
STEPS TO BECOME A USA HOCKEY CERTIFIED COACH
USA Hockey and the Coaching Education Program require both certification and registration to be eligible to coach. Registration is done online on a yearly basis. Certification is also required.

Step 3: As appropriate, complete your Coach/Volunteer Screening, SafeSport Training, and Age Specific Modules (Required before participating in any on-ice activities).
a) Coach / Volunteer Screening - The screening policy is to screen every coach / volunteer every two (2) seasons. A completed screening application is required in order for a coach to be placed on a roster.

b) Safesport Training - Safesport Training must be completed prior to participation in any on-ice activities. Safesport training is required for all coaches and is valid for one (1) season. Valid Safesport certification is required in order for a coach to be placed on a roster.

c) 2019-20 Age Specific Modules - Required age modules must be completed prior to participation in any on-ice activities. The online age specific modules are now open for the 2017-18 season. Coaches must be current members of USA Hockey in order to register for the modules. Age module training is required in order for a coach to be placed on a roster.

Step 4: As appropriate, complete your Level CEP (Required by 12/31/21).
Coaching Education Program (CEP) Certification Clinics - Required CEP must be completed by 12/31 of the current season. The USA Hockey coaching clinic season for Levels 1 - 3 officially runs from September 1 to December 31. Level 4 clinics are typically held from April to August with some districts holding them as late as September/October. Clinic schedules are updated regularly.
